Narrative - travel buddies

For this project we were to tell a narrative in three different perspectives. I chose to draw out scenes, use a still photograph and film that I had from the actual experience. I wanted to film the actual drawing out because it seemed like it was different from regular shots and I really liked how you could hear the marker. It's interesting doing a movie with no continuous sound or background music, it definitely changes the mood.

This was a very creative approach to the assignment. The writing/coloring with sharpie marker connects the video and photo portions of the piece making the different media work well together. I think the back ground conversation while going up the Eiffel tower adds character to the movie and I wish the sound would continue while introducing each friend on the trip. This could also help smoothen out the transition from video to still shots. Overall the narrative is great and personable!

I love the sound effects. Were these the actual sounds or did you find these somewhere? They were almost hypnotic. I like how you interweaved the still pictures with the video of the drawings, it was a nice combination, and broke up the video so that it didn't become boring. The audio works really well in this piece. I would be kind of cool if you took the video out completely and just left the audio. I don't know if the narrative would be clear, but it would still be cool. Nice job!

I loved the way you filmed this narrative. The angle of the camera was very interesting, and it was cool to see you draw out everything. The clips of the Eiffel Tower thrown into the film really pull it together. Good job!

This was a great idea with a nice personal touch at the end. I really enjoyed the shots of the Eiffel Tower and how you pieced them into the writing portion. i liked how you positioned the camera for the writing shots and i thought the single light source was a good idea. One thing that might have been better is if you had cut out the parts in which you are reaching for the markers and try to narrow it down into just the portion of you writing. other than that, good job.
